Debbie Brugman has many years’ experience in marketing. She began her career in the insurance industry in 1997 as a travel insurance consultant for Truck and General Underwriting Managers and then later the Supergroup. In 1999, she moved over to a far more challenging position in insurance, using her skills as a marketer for Truck and General Insurance Company.
Debbie left the insurance industry in 2003 and relocated to take up the position of National Marketing and Customer Care Manager for a medical aid company. In 2006 she returned to her roots in transport insurance as the Regional Marketing Manager (Western Cape) for Wheels Underwriting Managers.
In June 2010, she was appointed as our National Marketing Manager and has since been enjoying not only her position but also the traffic in Gauteng.
Kim started her career at Fedgen Insurance Company in 1991. She left in May 1999 as Executive PA to the General Manager and spent four years in the UK, working as PA to four directors of a helicopter finance company. She returned in 2003 and after a brief stint at a sports management company, joined Wheels Underwriting Managers in August 2004.
Kim is the Administration and Communications Manager, and is in charge of all aspects relating to advertising, promotional material, and arranging company events. Kim drives everyone mad by checking every document for accuracy and layout.
Kim also is responsible for the FAIS compliance for the company.
Stephen Cox has over twenty five years experience in the motor industry. Starting his career as an apprentice at Southern Motor Holdings, Stephen then moved on to run a classic car business in Bryanston. He has a keen interest in classic and vintage type of vehicles of which he has owned and built many, some being concours winners.
In 2008 Stephen joined Wheels to manage its motorcycle portfolio. In April 2010 Wheels launched a Classic and Sports car product which he manages. In June 2010 he was promoted to National Marketing Manager for Motorcycles, Classics and Sports.
Pam achieved her ACIS qualification in 1983, and joined Wheels Underwriting Managers as Financial Manager in 2004. She has extensive experience in financial management, accounting systems and human resources management. This includes six years in International Trade Finance, ten years in the Advertising Industry, two years at the University of Surrey, England, and seven years with Import and Distribution companies.
Raymond started his insurance career with Aegis Insurance Company in 1985 and remained there until he left as a Team Manager in 1998. He then joined First Central Insurance Company and worked as Assistant Claims Manager for four years between 1998 and 2001.
Raymond joined Truck & General Insurance Company Limited (which is now Wheels Underwriting Managers) in 2001, working in different capacities and is currently the National Claims Manager.
Matthew Besseling (BCom UNISA) has been working with computers for many, many years. He is comfortable in many roles, from database and systems administration to Internet application design, and has extensive experience in the insurance sector. As well as working as a technology coordinator and web designer for local and other government agencies in the United Kingdom, he has also designed, built and maintained information systems for the short-term insurance industry.
Matthew currently oversees all aspects of Wheels’ IT needs; he is responsible for maintaining the statistical data used in the company, and liaises with service providers in the running of the Wheels infrastructure.
John’s career started in London at Lloyds, progressed to Harare (Salisbury) and then to Johannesburg.
Previous companies include Bechtel (the construction managers for the Palabora Mine) as Risk Manager, The Standard General Insurance Company Limited (various positions in Johannesburg and Zimbabwe) from 1973 to 1987); Fedsure Group Limited (Member of the Group Executive Committee 1988 to 1997); various risk and management assignments within East Africa and South Africa under the consultancy of John W Towsey & Associates (Pty) Limited) including in 2003 as Chief Executive of Truck and General Insurance Company Limited (and later Wheels Underwriting Managers (Pty) Limited).
John is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (London), Associate of the Insurance Institutes of South Africa and Kenya and a Fellow of the Institute of Risk Managers (South Africa).
John is a keen pilot, scuba diver, and a collector of British classic and other sports cars.
